TIMOR aims to encapsulate the grit and determination of an empowered woman.
It also inspires to embody the special bond shared between mothers, daughters and sisters. Maison Zachrin Jaafar’s ready to wear collection this year explores the uniqueness of the Malaysia’s east coast (“Pantai Timur”) culture that is also synonymous with women endeavors.
The collection will present our take on the Pantai Timor’s textile, art and lifestyle through a modernized lense. It is an opportunity to introduce to the new generation centuries old heritage.
From Batik Art to the UNESCO recognized “Mak Yong” and many more, all of them are our national treasures that must be preserved and appreciated.
It is also our way to support the local industry in light of the crippling economic effect of the Covid-19 pandemic. We will use the Batik Cop Terengganu as the collection main material.
The collection consists of classic cuts of Kebaya and Kurung bearing the Zachrin Jaafars DNA. The flowy light material and the batik will accentuate a stylistic yet modest look customary of the oriental values.
